Porch of the Former Capuchin Convent
Description
Dating from 1622, this gate is all that remains of the Capucins Convent, which was built in 1620. After its closure in 1793 and its demolition following a fire in 1840, the gate was moved below the walls of Château Brêches, on Place Grenette.
This monastery was built as early as 1620, originally on the site of the current Charles Albert Square. At that time, it was located outside the city limits. It was closed during the Revolution (1793) and then demolished after the fire of 1840
